Blue Innovation

The company has a passion for producing world-class caliber racing machines through a combination of refined carbon fibers, wind tunnel developed tube construction, rider comfort and a relentless commitment to aerodynamic perfection. We continue to master the art of creating bikes with a seamless balance between speed, power efficiency and rider comfort.

Aerodynamics

Tube shape is a major factor in aerodynamic efficiency. Equally as important is the orientation of the tubes and how each tube’s angle effectively alters its shape. Blue’s Super Flow Tube Technology (SFT2) is the art of creating tubes to be perfectly aligned with the flow of the wind. The cross-sectional shape will change along different points of each tube to best optimize its aerodynamic properties.  Along with our SFT2 designs, Kamtail tube shapes on many of our bikes is designed to work in multiple wind conditions and improve aerodynamics.

Wind Tunnel Testing

Wind tunnel testing is the foundation of our design. Blue has years of wind tunnel testing experience and knowledge to design and test our entire line of bikes. While the wind tunnel is our second home, we know it won’t mean anything if the bikes don’t perform for you, in your “wind tunnel” – the open road. At Blue, we test what’s important, not what’s easy to test.

BlueDynamics

The scientific term “dynamics” is defined as “a branch of physics concerned with the study of forces and torques and their effect on motion”. Along that vein, BlueDynamics is our term for the technology employed and developed by our product team and the resulting effects on your motion. BlueDynamics represents the philosophy of combining aerodynamics, ergonomics, and materials to develop bikes that simply perform better.

Carbon Fiber Composites

Carbon fiber is now considered the premium material for bicycle frames, handlebars, seat posts and other components. Its extremely lightweight and stronger when compared to traditional bicycle materials like aluminum, titanium and other alloys.

Blue's bicycles utilize some of the industry's best high-strength, high-modulus carbon fiber and employ proprietary layup, that is, the calculated way pieces of carbon are configured to achieve desired strength, weight, and ride characteristics.  The T700 and T800 carbon fiber makes up the foundation of our frames, forks and carbon components.  Our carbon materials have a high tensile strength and excellent filament winding, weaving and pre-pregging properties.  This makes better bicycles and is a better choice when compared with carbon fiber used by some bicycle companies and especially seen in the entry-level bicycles and lower-end range of carbon products on the market.

A Little More about Carbon Fiber Manufacturing

There is a small number of carbon fiber producers in the World.  Most of the bicycle industry utilizes the same suppliers for their raw carbon fiber.  Different companies employ different methods to their designs and build processes as the carbon fibers themselves are not the only key to creating great bicycles.  Resin must be added to carbon fiber to turn the material into a composite and not just strands of carbon.  The composite that is created with the addition of the resin is otherwise known as, carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP).  You may sometimes hear of a bicycle being made of "composite" material and that generally means it is made from carbon fiber.  The carbon fiber filament combined with the process of using heat and pressure to impregnate it with a resin into a carbon weave is a very important part of the process in making strong and lightweight bicycles.

The carbon we utilize and the processes used to produce our bicycles allow BLUE to produce bicycles that are very lightweight, strong and have less fatigue over time.
